New West Dusk walk

A couple of things first. I'm going to break the photos out a bit different. In the past, I've displayed my photos chronologically. But lately I've been trying to shoot some specific items. In this post I will be grouping some by subject.

Second, not all of this walk happened at dusk. Sushi came in between a couple of parts of the walk ;)

B&W to start:
Old wheel-barrow

That's really more creepy than cute

Flowers and blossoms:
Yup, still spring

An early death

Inspired

I recently received my copy of Ansel Adams' Portfolios. If you've seen the book, you may remember what inspired me to take this photo. If not, maybe pick it up, some excellent images.

In human habitat:
Squirrel on a wire

Like a duck to ... tile?

Around the courthouse:
Just another brick

Begbie

a.k.a. The Hanging Judge

Obey:

Umm, no Vespas?

Private

There really should be a third here, from my previous post, which is the Low Cost towing sign. It got me motivated to shoot old signs in the first place.

Industrial use:
Westminster Boiler & Tank

Westminster Boiler & Tanks backside

The next three I'm grouping because they just don't fit well anyplace else :)

Petro-Fire

Do I even have to mention that it was an amazing sun set?

Same but different

Home

The earlier "brighter" stuff was shot with the 18-200VR, the later stuff with the 35mm 1.8. It's great to be able to hand hold at ISO 200 when it's just about dark out.

I hope you enjoyed some of the photos.

Have a great weekend.

New West after work walk

We went for a little walk tonight, cold though it was.

I'm getting more used to shooting with the 70-210 and am liking it... is a 80-200 f2.8 in my future? I'm sure some day ;)

Spring has definitely sprung:

Bronzed Child

One more with effect.

I'm not convinced yet, but it's definitely different. I'm sure there will be a few more conversions over the next little while.

:)

Photochrom Geese

I don't normally do a lot of post processing. But I wanted to try out the photochrom plug-in for Gimp.

A very different look from the original. But I think I like it.

Golden Ears Bridge at Dusk

A little after sunset

Burnaby Lake Walk

I'm still trying to shake off the final remnants of this cold, but went for a walk at Burnaby lake today.

Tough day for shooting, the light was flat and the ski not something you wanted in pictures.

Dead-wood

Moss at ground level

A bug level view of the world

Rufous hummingbird

I spent a lot of time trying to get a decent shot of this guy. But it was windy and I had a very tough time getting a clear shot. I must have well over 100 photos, two turned out well enough to post.

Hummingbird wings

Very cool to observe. :)

Happy Easter.
