Burnaby Criterium Races

Michelle and I cycled down to have a look. Despite the fact that the "explainy-guy" wasn't there to, well, explain things, it was good :)

Tough to get good pan photos with a point and shoot, especially with the background (i.e. parked cars, no spectators). But, it is what it is.

Some great riding weather

No not motorcycles (I actually haven't been on mine since getting back from my trip) but bicycles.

20 - 22 degrees makes for such a comfortable ride.

New Ride

I bought this from Morgan, always nice to deal with people you know! Got new wheels on it and a refreshed drivetrain and picked it up yesterday. Once it dried out a bit today I went for a ride (first one back after fighting this cold for 2 weeks).

Feels very different than my mid 1980's Nishiki :)

I like it.

Thanks to Morgan for all his help getting this build up with some fresh parts!

Velodrome

Michelle and I went down to watch Pete race at the velodrome.

I'd never been to one before (and apparently there are only 4 indoor ones in Canada), so of course I brought a camera.

I shot over 450 photos, and a very very small number of panning shots turned out well enough that I thought I'd post them.

Frosty Ride

Michelle and I decided to get out for a bit of a ride today. It was just above freezing, so we dressed warm.

Ride to the Athlete's Village

After riding the KLR Friday, and mountain biking yesterday, I took the road bike out today. It was supposed to be just a quick little ride to move the legs, but I ended up all the way in Vancouver again. And this time I checked out a bit more of the Athlete's Village.

There are some cool structures there


which can lead to some interesting perspectives

Evening ride on the new steel beast

I picked up an old Nishiki steel road bike (mid-80's) and tonight was my 3rd night out on it.

I've been tweaking the setup a bit and tonight rode down & around Deer Lake Park at dusk.

The little Casio almost never leaves my bag, so I took a couple of photos along he way

Riding back up from the park was quite a different experience. Turning those big gears take some kind of leg strength :)
