Easter Sunday
The rain finally let up this evening and after watching the Moto 250 race and some Art Wolfe's Travels to the Edge, I headed out with the camera.
Somewhat aimlessly I might add.
I guess I was just a squirrel looking for a nut. This one already found his.

It still wasn't warm enough for ice cream, so things weren't too busy

But people were definitely enjoying the beach this evening.

Bloody photographers ;)

No lifeguards on the beach yet, just a lonely crow keeping watch

I'm not sure which of these two I like better:

The benches were popular, it was nice enough to sit in the sun and just relax and soak it up after the nasty weather earlier today

Men will be boys

Cruiser chicks

I hung out on the rocks for a while myself and just watched people and the dogs

Reflecting:

The clouds were definitely still hanging out

I took my time wandering back and got the shot of the, now properly tagged, Malone's building for another project.

I guess I've been fairly busy with photography, I shot part of Jenn's wedding yesterday and processed all the images this morning. I uploaded them but haven't heard back from her, once I do I'm sure some of the photos will make their way here.
Have a good night.

Walking a different path
I spend so much time on 4th Ave that every now and then I need to force myself to get to places a different way. So I decided to take a stroll up Broadway instead :)
Of course, I still start out on 4th ;)
Stages of crossing

Hamming it up

Me&You&YoMomma&YoCousinToo

Spring flowers

Two guys, two dogs, one cup

Off 4th

Enjoy :)

Sometimes you just can't get any further
Tony and I took a little spin north of Squamish. We decided to see how far into the Elaho we could get, after all we are well into April.
The road was definitely rougher than last year and we eased off a bit. It was also dusty, which was very surprising.
We made a stop here.

The road looks funny ahead and Tony decides he better check it out. Me, I grab the camera.
"Hey Tony, you know what that stuff is right?"

He doesn't listen though and insists that KLR's are a dual-sport, go anywhere kinda-bike, don'tcha know!

So, actually at this point I had to put the camera away and help push the bike back to the gravel :)
Good times!

How do you judge progress?
I know, it's an odd question. And for the one or two people who actually follow this blog, it may seem out of character.
But you see, today was the first 'ride' of the season. Jerry and I went out for a bit of riding, some 7 hours or so. We rode all our usual backroads and sessioned some.
As I sat here reflecting on the day and thought about ensuring my sportbike next week, I started to think about how we actually judge progress.
I remember when I first started riding sportbikes, there was a ride to Squamish where two guys on bikes literally flew past me in a corner. They were leaned over so far and screamed past at what seemed absolutely ridiculous speed. And over the last few years, I don't recall any time when we've been 'on it' and got passed. Does this mean I've made progress?
I think I will try and sell my Ninja this season. She's been with me since 2005 and I've had some tremendous fun with her. Still at the beginning of every season I'm amazed and scared for the first ride or two. And then it fades and we start performing like a team. But it might be time to move on. Try to get through life with just one bike. Leave the sportbike scene behind. Focus on touring more on the KLR, maybe riding a bit more offroad. Does that mean I've made progress?
My riding and interest seem to be changing. Things that I used to do (still do as a matter of fact) I don't seem to appreciate much when seeing others who do the same things. I know that Jerry had some similar thoughts on our road trip last year where he started to question the way we ride. Not because of what it meant for us in terms of risk or danger, but because of how it was affecting other folks who we 'share' the road with.
Progress? I don't know. Maybe it's more of a slow but significant realization.
Soon I hope to return to regular photo features, I know it's been a bit slow lately.
Hope you had a good weekend.

Filling some space "Experiments in Light"
As someone said to me "You haven't posted anything lately".
Well, she was right of course.
From a February photowalk:
Sunny tiles

Stains or Art

Gate rails

Fenced vines

Fires and Alcoholic Beverages

Sweet 16

Enjoy
