We're slow, but we get there.

After spending a couple of more hours today, we have the KLR engine apart. The head needs some cleaning (expected)

... and the piston is getting replaced, so it won't get cleaned ;)

Me? I'm happy that we got it apart without breaking anything major ;)

Now to get the cylinder machined and then to put it all back together with some new parts :)

Another Angle

Night ride on Friday, stopped at the 20th Street again to get another angle at the pedestrian bridge and lights.

"Manly work"

Why is Jerry so happy? Because we are pulling my bike apart to put 'big bore' kit in. I.E. we're stripping it down, pulling the top of the motor apart, having the cylinder machined and then we're going to put the whole thing back together.

Hopefully we won't have too many parts left over after ;)

Lori brought us hot chocolate & freshly made chocolate chip cookies. You know, manly snacks for the manly work ;)

Happy in an unheated garage at about 3 or 4 degrees Celsius.

Next weekend we're pulling the motor apart, this was just the prep.

Night ride

Took the new bike, now with the new lights installed and headed out for a ride.

Should have carried a big tripod, but tried to make due with what I had. The colours were amazing

New Ride

I bought this from Morgan, always nice to deal with people you know! Got new wheels on it and a refreshed drivetrain and picked it up yesterday. Once it dried out a bit today I went for a ride (first one back after fighting this cold for 2 weeks).

Feels very different than my mid 1980's Nishiki :)

I like it.

Thanks to Morgan for all his help getting this build up with some fresh parts!

P.S.: Morgan actually appeared in the very first ever post on this blog in 2007

Velodrome

Michelle and I went down to watch Pete race at the velodrome.

I'd never been to one before (and apparently there are only 4 indoor ones in Canada), so of course I brought a camera.

I shot over 450 photos, and a very very small number of panning shots turned out well enough that I thought I'd post them.

Pete before his novice race. I think what you see there is fear :)

After a while we went down to where the racers were and I liked the new angle:

It was interesting. Very difficult lighting conditions I had to bump up to 1600 on the ISO

New Westminster at night

Michelle joined me and we both spent times with tripods and cameras... though there was a slight size difference ;)

Long time no street

It's been a while since I've decided to shoot people in the street.

I just have to photograph the photographers :)

Looks posed. Isn't.

Michelle had to go downtown on Sunday, so I came along and brought a camera.

Shot at Kits beach. I'm trying to get closer...

I like the fact that it looks like two dis-separate photos pasted together :)

Another New West walk

I'm actually posting some of these in the wrong order. It sure looks like I've been reasonably busy taking photos, but not been very good about posting them :)

These photos are actually from 2 weeks ago

I don't know why I like taking pictures of these bushes, maybe it's the 'manicured' nature of them

Now I just have to catch up on posts about 2 road trips, and develop a bunch of film in the fridge ;)

Excellent Storm photos

Take a moment to check these out, look at the higher definition slide show.

They are amazing.
