Just had to share
No photos today as I took the enduro out yesterday, along with my backpack of photography goodies, but got rained on. So the camera gear stayed in the backpack all nice and dry.
But I had one of those moments today that make me actually -gap- and go what?
We were changing out the photo display for the photography group at work were getting comments all along, mostly people commenting on the new photos. Except for one guy who came up and asked me if I knew who took the "The Middle of Nowhere" photo (below) that had been displayed previously... I'll call him Johnny-N0-Stars to protect the ... well, you'll see.
The discussion when a little like this:
Johnny-N0-Stars: You know who took that middle-a-nowhere picture?
Me: Yup, I did.
Johnny-N0-Stars: Oh, can I get a copy ... but can I get it in colour?
Me: -stunned silence-
Johnny-N0-Stars: I travel a lot and spend time in the middle of nowhere
Me: Well, no, it's in black and white for a reason.
Johnny-N0-Stars: Yeah, but I want it in colour.
Me: But it's not in colour. I shot it this way for a reason
Johnny-N0-Stars: Yeah, but just send me the original or something so I can have it in colour.
Me: Look. This is the way it is. It's black and white because I want it black and white. I'm the photographer ...
Johnny-N0-Stars: -getting into a huff- Well I'll just download it from the internet or something
Me: -walking away-
I didn't really waste any more time here. Just had to share... because I'm still shaking me head.
Ok, I fell better now. Thanks for listening (or reading in this case).

The Devil on my Shoulder
Every now and then it seems like someone 'gets you'.
That rare recognition that you are not alone in your mental deficiencies. That other people suffer from the same addiction -- I mean hobby.
I had one of those rare instances today when I read The Devil on my Shoulder
And now, once again, I can't wait until the weather turns, the days get longer and I can insure the Ninja... I must say I'm almost salivating at the prospect.
The trips are being planned, but it all seems so far away right

The Racetrack, Moonlight Racing
I ran across this photo on flickr and had to do a quick bit of research.
This link gives a bit more detail on the sliding rocks of the racetrack playa. On some level I love the fact that there are things (maybe basic things) that we can not explain.
On another, I really want an answer to the mystery!
In either case, it's a great picture and makes me look forward to traveling back to the desert this summer.

False Creek Photowalk
The light was interesting this afternoon and I decided to take a stroll. Having finished "The Narrows" by Michael Connelly (I recommend it) I needed to get out in a hurry while the light was still good.
I decided to head down 4th towards Granville Island to see where I could get some interesting shots with the long shadows.
I stopped off again to shoot these vases
Ok, I admit, in this case I was more interested in the reflections of the pedestrian's reflections (you may need to see this large to get what I'm talking about). That means go click the pictures (or look for the slideshow link below).

Two of a kind
I quite like this one. Don't have a title for it yet.
I walked further along False Creek than Granville Island and quite enjoyed some of the views.
The sun was getting very low
Just a wisp of cloud
Again these darn mountains getting in the way of a nice shot
Things turned a light pink
Again that one single cloud

The last bit of light
For this one I couldn't find a good spot to set up the tripod. So, handheld at 1/3 or a second (used the bridge railing for support)
I was so hungry at this point that I felt dizzy. Probably just a bit of low blood sugar (didn't eat enough today). Luckily I had some pizza in the fridge from last night. Washed down 3 slice with a couple of diet pepsis and felt much better :)
