This is why I want to own cameras

Some absolutely stunning vistas in this advrider.com thread.

In my opinion, well worth scrolling through to enjoy some of the amazing scenery.

Things you stumble over

On the way home from the gym I spotted a Hudson sitting in the driveway of one of the houses on Yew street.

Well, I put an old Kodak 4 MP camera in my gym bag recently, just in case. And tonight I was glad I did.

Larger here.

Bit of sepia treatment as it seemed to suit the scene :)

A whole different level of intensity in street photography

Bruce Gilden

I really don't know how that would go over in Vancouver...

Some more film

I'm trying to get out with the FM2 some more to get used to it. The fact that I can't tell how many shots I've made on a roll is slightly bothersome, but not hampering me too much.

Phoenix:

Now can we play?

I haven't been converting any of the images I've been shooting with film to black and white, but the above shot just needed it in my opinion.

In the giant viewfinder:

Flags:

Not happy with the way a number of these came out. Going to try some Tri X 100 next (3 rolls) and then some TriX 400.

Weird Effect. Not sure what happened here...

Jenn at False Creek. Not sure why, but it looks like it was a cold day. That couldn't be further from the truth :)

Have I mentioned that heights really aren't my thing?

Michelle sent the following to me. For some reason she thought I'd enjoy it...

And there was much rejoycing!

I just got my first roll from the FM2n back. And the camera works. After having all my gear besides the FM2 and a point a shoot stolen a week ago (see below), it's a good feeling to have something to show:)

When one closes, another opens:

Life at ...

well, at no digital millimeters right now.

On Friday, my place was broken into and my watches and camera gear were stolen. All I've got left is a point and shoot and a beat up Nikon FM2n with a 50 mm that has some spots & fungus in it. I'm not sure the FM2n actually works properly, time will tell.

So for a while, there will be a much larger delay in posting up photos. And when they do appear, there will be significantly less of them.

Perhaps there is a lesson in all this. I'm not sure what it is yet, but I took that old beat up FM2n out on Saturday and today in the rain and shot a few frames.

And it reminded me that I love photography and that the gear is just there to facilitate.

Don't believe your eyes ... aka Pixel Perfect

Interesting article in the New Yorker. Don't believe everything you see with your own two eyes ;)

The complete guide to male conversation

Got this call from a coworker (R) whom I share a fridge & coffee maker with at the office (we accessorized our cubicles, what can I say).

R: Ginger Ale?

Bjorn: Yeah?

R: Got any?

Bjorn: Nope.

R: K, I'm getting some.

Bjorn: OK.

R: Bye.

That is all.

Sometimes you've got to earn it.

Went to SFU after work today with Scott and we wasted no time getting up to the top.

After a quick stop to put on gear we ripped Nicoles. I was on a no stop / no touch ride but then tapped my foot twice in the lower section (didn't stop at all).

It was still early, so up to Dead Moped and down the North road trail.

At the bottom two girls on cross country full suspension bikes came through. We were tired and I slipped.

Pedals are sharp and ready for action ;)

Great after work ride!

UBC - May 7th

It was too nice to go to the gym, so I figured that UBC would be fairly empty with exams being over.

As always, I like taking pictures of pretty flowers, I just don't like looking at them. But I thought I'd post one shot up:

Active Sunday

After doing 1 1/2 laps at SFU (Nicoles and Dead Moped) I went down to the beach to hang with the hackers ...

On the way:

Vigor ... at rest

Michelle was ever so glad I showed up to take pictures ;)

I forget this guys name, but he was pretty good :)

I also spent some time people watching ... and shooting of course. I seemed to have bicycles on the brain.

Big pimpin!

I wanted to show this guy how to raise the seat

This guy needed no help, he was lookin good

I thought they were going to do the hokey pokey but ...

Busted!

Michelle disappeared for a while, but eventually found her way back after running in a few other people from work.

Next time I may take the camera riding and try and get some full on action shots.

In the meantime, here is the slideshow

Hope you had a great weekend as well.

Spring is in the air

After riding all morning in the rain (and finding that my left boot and rainpants leak) I decided to go for a walk once the sun came out)

Baseball has started up again

Many people just stopped to watch for a bit

The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! (ok, not really, but they did score a run here)

All in all a good day :)

Exposure Gallery

Jenn and I went to the opening of "Street" at the Exposure Gallery tonight. Good stuff from local artists.

As it was also a event from the vandigicam group on flickr, there were plenty of people with cameras. I couldn't go without mine or I would have felt left out ;)

The first couple of shots just weren't wide enough, so I swapped lenses:

Wide is good!

Explaining the art?!

Free hugs!

That's John (a.k.a. Waxy) in the middle. I didn't get a chance to talk to him to say "Hey" but I took his pictures. Apparently it'll last longer...

Nice shoes

People kept getting in the way of the pictures

And then we left :)

It was a great time, though we didn't stay long as it was B U S Y. Good to see a solid turnout!

If you want to see the larger shots click here

Have a great weekend
